Coaching at PACE
The recidivism rate in youths participating in PACE is remarkably lower than the Texas Youth Commission recidivism rate in all categories. The secret to this successful recidivism reduction rate boasted by PACE is the careful consideration of personally matched coaches with youths and their parents early in the 17-weeks of initial service provisions. These coaches spend personal quality time with the youths at least one hour per week for 17 weeks; they also accompany the youths on field trips and cultural enrichment events. Coaching is important for parents too and for this reason, these coaches are chosen to carefully bond with the youth as well as his/her parent. Together the youth/parent/coach form a winning team focused on equipping the youth with a strong sense of purpose to combat staggering state recidivism rates.
