In one year PACE provides non-residential after-care, secondary prevention and intervention strategies for boys and girls . In addition, PACE provides unique interventions and support for parents of these youths. PACE enables youth and their families to overcome the risks associated with returning to the criminal justice system.

The program is credited with accomplishing a significant reduction in recidivism among youth released from parole in the Texas Youth Commission (TYC) in Harris County .

A recent study on recidivism conducted by the Texas Youth Commission indicates a consistent decrease in recidivism for the youth participating in the PACE program compared to the youth of a similar control group.

The program begins with 17 weeks of classroom setting meetings for boys and girls ages 14-21 covering topics in:

  • Life Skills
  • Parenting & Family Development
  • Career Technology
  • Academics & Tutoring
  • Proper Self Esteem & Character Development

Afterwards, mentors acting as coaches provide one-on-one guidance, protection and training with youths for at least one year as they work to stay out of trouble and advance themselves for the future.
